Mission
Statement
The Humanities and Arts Research Centre (HARC) is an
open framework for advanced interdisciplinary research. Based at Royal
Holloway, University of London, we have strong links to many academic
and other institutions in the University of London, the greater London
area, national, and international communities.
HARC promotes research events, projects, and collaborations within
multiple independent research "strands", sponsors fellowships, research
groups, and postgraduate groups. The Centre runs annual themes (current
theme: "Dogma"; forthcoming theme, "Citizenships") focusing on the
humanities and arts, but actively incorporating all disciplines,
including social sciences and exact sciences, as well as strong links to
public sphere, to civic, political, and commercial cultures.
HARC is directed by Professor Ahuvia Kahane (Professor of Greek, RHUL)
and a Steering Group of senior and new faculty members at Royal
Holloway, It is sponsored by the Dean of Arts and the faculties of Arts,
History and Social Sciences, and Sciences at Royal Holloway, University
of London and various external bodies.
