Mission Statement

Founded in 1986, the Higgins School of Humanities fosters linking activities among the different humanities disciplines: English, foreign languages, visual and performing arts, philosophy, and history. The School is housed on the second floor of Carriage House, where a seminar room is available for talks and other events. Each year the Higgins School provides grants to humanities faculty to pursue their research, often through travel to conferences, archives, museums, libraries, and other resources. The Higgins School also sponsors a team-taught, interdisciplinary seminar that focuses on some topic pertinent to our times and spans the humanities curricular offerings in exciting and innovative ways.
